On September 30th, 1993, I returned to Taiwan from New York City to set up a program for Dalcroze music education. As the first person from Taiwan who received the National Teacher’s License for children and adults, I felt responsible to make this wonderful approach to music education available in my country. Since then, I have done my best to carry out the following tasks:
1.Run both Dalcroze teachers’ practical training and children’s program.
2.Organize and write Dalcroze Eurhythmics teaching curriculum.
3.Issue a magazine with numerous articles about subjects relating to Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
4.Organize recitals to show the achievements of Dalcroze students.
As someone who firmly believes that formal organization is necessary to insure a secure place for Dalcroze education in the future, I helped found The Dalcroze Society of Taiwan (DST) on June 7, 1998 and, to my honor, was elected Chairwoman of the Board for two consecutive terms and a third term started on 2010. In 1999, the DST had the honor of becoming a member of F.I.E.R. (Federation Internationale des Enseignants de Rythmique) and became one of fourteen National Associations and Delegates.
The DST has grown steadily over the last thirteen years, from forty-five founding members, of which fifteen were on our Promotion Committee, to our current membership of two hundred ninety-six (including the honorary members) from across Taiwan. Many members are experts in the fields of music, art, education and science. We additionally have members who are leaders of commerce and industry. We are privileged to have sitting on our Board of Directors twenty distinguished individuals, fifteen of whom are directors and five supervisors; among these are educators, artists, musicians, dancers, poets, entrepreneurs, government officials, politicians and accountants. Our office staff includes a secretary general, two secretaries, a teaching assistant, and three treasurers. Together they have made the DST a dynamic and professional organization.
In order to encourage the development of Dalcroze music education in Taiwan, we have set the following goals:
a. To promote Dalcroze Eurhythmics education.
b. To develop and create a curriculum for the teaching of Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
c. To promote the practical training of teachers in the Dalcroze approach.
d. To develop these related activities:
- Cultivate students of Dalcroze Eurhythmics,
- Introduce Dalcroze education into every level of education,
- Function as a Dalcroze Eurhythmics center,
- Recommend Dalcrozians from Taiwan to study or do research abroad,
- Invite international Dalcroze masters to give workshops,
- Encourage music creativity,
- Support the development of a national music education system based on
the Dalcroze approach.
e. To enrich the spirit and culture of our society through Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
To reach these goals we have implemented the following programs, activities and seminars.
1.Run both Dalcroze teachers’ practical training and children’s program.
2.Organize and write Dalcroze Eurhythmics teaching curriculum.
3.Issue a magazine with numerous articles about subjects relating to Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

5.Invite international masters to Taiwan to give Dalcroze lessens, workshops and master Classes.
